Pressure Washing

Pressure Washing in Blue Ridge & North Georgia

Cabins in these mountains sit under tree cover and stay damp, which is a good description of what algae and mildew want. Green on the north wall, black streaks down the siding, a porch ceiling going gray. None of it is dirt exactly, and none of it comes off with a garden hose.

What we wash

  • House washing and full cabin exteriors
  • Log siding and tongue-and-groove
  • Porch ceilings and soffits
  • Decks, walkways, and stairs
  • Driveways, sidewalks, and concrete pads
  • Roof cleaning by softwash
  • Stone, block, and foundation walls
  • Multi-unit and commercial exteriors

Softwashing, and why pressure is the wrong tool for siding

The name is misleading. Most of what we do on a house is not high pressure at all. Log siding, wood, and shingles will not survive a tight fan at 3000 psi, and the damage looks fine wet then shows up as furring and stripped grain once it dries. What actually kills the growth is the cleaning solution, not the force.

So on anything soft we apply the cleaner, let it work, and rinse at low pressure. High pressure gets saved for concrete and masonry, where it belongs. If someone quotes you a fast price to blast your cabin, that speed is the problem.

Roofs

Those black streaks on a roof are algae, and it holds moisture against the shingles. Roof cleaning is a softwash job every time. Walking a steep mountain roof with a pressure wand is how granules end up in the gutter and a warranty ends up void.

Washing before staining

A large share of our washing is the first step of a staining job, because stain will not bond to a dirty or oxidized surface. If you are planning both, book them together and let us build in the drying days between. For heavier organic staining on stone, pavers, and siding, we also do a dedicated mold and mildew treatment.

Recent washing work

We cleaned the log siding, stone foundation, and porch ceilings on a cabin in Blue Ridge, written up in our exterior cabin cleaning post. We have also done multi-unit porch and exterior washing as a single job for a property owner.
